The pilots' union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) has announced a strike at Lufthansa at short notice for Thursday, 12 March, and Friday, 13 March 2026. Lufthansa is working intensively to keep the impact on passengers as low as possible. We are trying to have as many flights as possible operated by other airlines within the Lufthansa Group and by partner airlines.
However, despite these efforts, flight cancellations are unavoidable. These cancellations will be loaded into the booking systems in the course of today.
Travelers who are affected by an irregularity will be informed accordingly, provided their contact details are stored in the booking.
Flights operated by Austrian Airlines (OS), Eurowings (EW), SWISS (LX), Air Dolomiti (EN), Discover Airlines (4Y), Edelweiss (WK) and Lufthansa City Airlines (VL) are not affected by the strike and are expected to operate as scheduled. Note: Brussels Airlines (SN) will also experience strike-related disruptions on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
For cancelled flights or flights which have been automatically rebooked by the airline, Schedule Change/Irregularity Policy for Travel Agents (OS/SN/LH/LX) applies.
For travelers to/from Germany whose flights are not cancelled, a goodwill policy (TWP 2605) applies.
