Singapore Airlines would like to share an important update regarding passenger name formatting in bookings, particularly for travellers with a single name as per their passport.
This communication supersedes our earlier circular, “SQIN Trade Circular – Updates on Guidelines to Avoid Booking and Passport Name Mismatch” dated 2 August 2024.
Key Changes and Guidelines:
1. Elimination of LNU/FNU in SQ/TR Bookings.
Effective immediately, the use of LNU (Last Name Unknown) or FNU (First Name Unknown) is NOT accepted for all Singapore Airlines (SQ) and Scoot (TR) bookings, similar to pure SQ itineraries.
LNU/FNU formats are known to cause check-in failures and system errors in bookings and should be avoided entirely.
2. Name Entry Guidelines for Single-Name Passengers.
For passengers with a single name in their passport:
Accepted Format: For a passenger with a single name “Ashok”on the passport, enter the name in the format e.g. ASHOK/Mr or ASHOK/ASHOK Mr. This ensures seamless compatibility with booking systems and supports self-service functionalities like Internet or Kiosk check-ins.Do not use LNU/FNU formats such as LNU/ASHOK or ASHOK/FNU, as these often lead to system errors and service disruptions.
3. A360 Booking Platform Instructions
For bookings made using the A360 platform, ensure that the “Single Name” checkbox is selected. This will automatically capture the passenger’s name in the prescribed ASHOK/MR format, ensuring alignment with system requirements.
These updated procedures are intended to align with system requirements and enhance the travel experience of our customers.
Please ensure this advisory is communicated to all relevant teams in your agency.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.
